Hi everyone. Perhaps someone can furnish me a tip on this problem:I want to migrate a customer from his current host to a new one. The website is the easy part site migrations are not a problem for me. The hard part is the email. I can re-create the account but what about the messages stored in the old server? How do I move them? How do I get all the stuff and copy it into a shared account controlled by CPanel? I think the other server uses Plesk which uses to be a hurt in the ***. Any advice accept.
If the transfer is between different control panels it is going to be a hurt. Any major cerebrate for moving to the plesk?may be contact the new host and ask them about this?
I have no experience with plesk so I don't know if they use Maildir or mbox. Cpanel latest version uses Maildir so if you can get the Maildir files and copy them to the change by reversal directories it will work. That is how we move e-mails when customers want to act their account from Cpanel to CretaPanel.
Thanks for your replies. I'm moving this customer to another server because current one is pure egest. Crap means: No PHP by fail. PHP has no permission to open files access to admin panel is not allowed and price is about 230 $/yearI think they use Plesk because of the folder names when connecting through FTP (needed to ask three times for the FTP access before getting it) but I'm not sure about that. I'm gonna move the stuff to a CPanel controlled entertain because I like the way this entertain and CPanel works. So my first step should be getting all those mail files in the old server then analyse if conversion is needed?
If you don't undergo a special reason for going for a plesk server. I would suggest selecting a Cpanel entertain. This ordain make the assign easy and annoy free. You can contact your new host and most hosts will do this remove for you. They can actually get it moved efficiently with a couple of clicks and this will include all your mails logs databases and everything.
There seems to be a confusion in my communicate. Old server seems Plesk but I undergo no access. New server will be Cpanel 11.
Hi,To move the emails from Plesk to cPanel is very difficult or you can say
unfeasible. Instead of moving the emails ask your client to download the mails using third celebrate mail client on their system and keep a copy of the same. Then you need to recreate the telecommunicate account on the new servers.
I don't think it will be to hard. I've just finished transferring emails from a c panel setup to a plesk system and it was relatively easy. So plesk to c panel should be as easy. I used apply to journey to the email folders and zip'd them then psftp to download to my desktop and using putty again logged into new system found the right folder uploaded and unziped by the appear of it your hardest thing will be the access. Gav
nachenko I am sure you must not be having root/SSH access to the old Plesk account. Still what you can do is use IMAP using IMAP client (Outlook. OutlookExprss. ThunderBird etc transfer all mails from IMAP folders in old account to your local folder (you can download all mails from all folders) once downloaded connect the same with IMAP to new server and upload the mails. This method is to be used when you don't have root or SSH access moreover this method will alter the date of all mails to the challenge date.
